Your brows frame your entire face, and when they’re sparse, uneven, or overplucked, you feel it every morning. Microblading is the semi-permanent technique that creates natural, hair-like strokes, so you can wake up with brows that already look done.
If you’re thinking about booking, here’s exactly what to expect at Keyla Sánchez Aesthetics in Adriatica Village, McKinney.
What is microblading, exactly?
Microblading is a manual technique where fine, hair-like strokes are drawn into the upper layers of the skin with natural-looking pigment. The result is fuller, beautifully shaped brows that look like your own hair, not makeup.
It’s ideal if your brows are sparse or thin, overplucked from years past, asymmetrical, or if you simply want to simplify your morning routine. During your consultation, we’ll talk honestly about whether microblading is the right choice for your skin and your goals. Not everyone is a candidate, and I’d rather tell you that upfront.
Before your appointment
A little preparation goes a long way:
- Arrive with clean skin and no brow makeup, so we can see your natural shape.
- Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications or supplements for 24–48 hours before (unless prescribed; always check with your doctor first).
- Pause strong exfoliants or retinoids around the brow area for about a week.
- Bring inspiration photos if you have them. They help me understand the look you love.
During your appointment, step by step
Plan for about two hours, and expect it to feel more relaxing than you imagine:
- Consultation and brow mapping. We talk about your goals, then I carefully measure and draw your new brow shape to complement your face. Nothing starts until you love the shape.
- Numbing. A topical numbing cream keeps you comfortable throughout.
- The microblading itself. I create each hair stroke by hand, following your natural growth pattern for the most realistic result.
- The reveal. You’ll see your new brows right away. They’ll look bolder at first, and that’s completely normal.
With 10 years of microblading experience and a medical background as a Physician Assistant, every detail (shape, symmetry, pigment choice) is planned around you.
Healing and aftercare: the first two weeks
This is the part most people are curious about, and the part that matters most:
- Days 1–4: Your brows will look darker and bolder than the final result. Don’t worry. This is expected.
- Days 5–10: Light flaking or scabbing may appear. Let it shed naturally; picking can pull pigment out.
- Keep your brows dry for about 10 days: no swimming, saunas, or heavy sweating.
- No makeup on the brow area until healing is complete.
- Your true, softened color settles in at around 4 weeks.
I’ll give you simple aftercare instructions to take home, and I’m always a text away if you have questions during healing.
How long does it last? Touch-ups
Microblading typically lasts 12 to 18 months, depending on your skin type and lifestyle. To keep your brows looking their best:
- Initial session: $475
- Perfecting touch-up (4–6 weeks): $100. This visit refines color and fills any spots where pigment healed lighter.
- Touch-up (6–12 weeks): $250
- Touch-up (after 12 weeks): $350
Most clients come back every 6-12 months for a color refresh, and honestly, that’s the appointment they look forward to.
